I see that it was published in 2016, two years ago. The government are still, despite lobbying and campaigning by several action groups and an APPG, refusing to make any kind of recompense to those affected, maintaining that the NIF cannot afford it. Has your research not been acted upon by anyone, or if it has, is it still being ignored? BackTo60 are mounting a legal challenge, and whilst I seriously doubt the SPA will ever be rolled back to 60 (and I am not even sure if it should) it would be helpful if the information you have brought to light here could be used to achieve something!

Because of my own SPA situation (I will be 60 this October) I have spent many hours since becoming aware of groups like WASPI and BackTo60 last year, reading everything I can about how this all came about. Like many women of the same/similar age, I did not get any notice of the change from the DWP, nor did anything published in the main stream media at the time alert me to my particular situation. I wish it had; I might not have been able to do anything about it because we had a child and were struggling to keep a roof over our heads for most of the 90’s.... we had to sell our flat (with negative equity, took us years to pay off the loan) and move in with my in-laws; but it would have been useful to know because perhaps we might have found a way to prepare.

EJJacksonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16436502220567305494noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1244044300216345080.post-1180125949847995102016-04-28T07:21:29.801+01:002016-04-28T07:21:29.801+01:00We ought to get this on the radio. Email your local press with the article and ask them to hi-light the issue.joanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10189884663350770897noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1244044300216345080.post-34899757192711813812016-04-27T22:27:17.474+01:002016-04-27T22:27:17.474+01:00In Prime Minister's Questions on 23 March, Dav...In Prime Minister's Questions on 23 March, David Cameron stated that the Government would not have been able to increase pensions for existing pensioners (this year, 2.9% - way above the inflation rate) if it were not for the savings made by the delay in SPA. So the reason we 1950s pensionless pensioners are being pushed into poverty is not, as we have been told, to reduce the budget deficit, but to enable those who are already drawing their pensions to have a better standard of living. It's time the Government started telling the truth and restored our pensions.Divadiverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09651692276109549479noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1244044300216345080.post-87205431432533406622016-04-27T21:41:50.557+01:002016-04-27T21:41:50.557+01:00Is there a way in which this aericle could be on t...Is there a way in which this aericle could be on the front page of all national newspapers in print and on line. I, like you, born 1954 but unlike you nor even the possibility of cashing in a private pension as I never worked for a company that offered one (always pretty broke too). I did know about the pension changes but only because I am an avid newspaper and magazine reader - no letters were sent to me. However, I assumed that no government would be able to get away with leaving us literally penniless and that there would have been some sort of safety net put in place, a means-tested benefit even, for those of us with no private pension or savings to dip into. After all, back in 1995 there was still supplementary benefit if nothing else. Unbelievable how cruel the government are being. So, having given up work as a chef as physically unable to continue, am working one-day a week in a shop and having to sign-on to top income up to £74pw, attend "employability" courses etc. Feel I am just treading water in the doldrums, just existing, until 2020. This is not what my mother and grandmother had.
